Advice from dad ignored
Dad always told me “Take care of the little things, the big things will take care of themselves.”
This is fantastic advice. It always works, unless you forget to take it, like I did today/last night.
Last night I decided that today I would bike to and from work. I plugged in both addresses to google maps and changed it to “walking” instead of “by car”. This avoids highways and takes the shortest possible route. I love GOOG.
Since it had me making about 20 turns on back roads I’d never heard of, I wrote down each turn on my blackberry in a note (I love RIMM).
Well…in writing down my turns, I missed one. Big mistake.
So my 9.9 mile journey turned into a 11.8 mile confused trek.
Here was the plan: (home is south west, office is north east)

And here is what I did:

You will notice the big blunder “U” turn I did. You may also notice another mistake near my office. I think I just missed my turn, but I’m not sure. I was able to figure out the right direction thanks to some railroad tracks near our office.
Next time I’ll double check my directions before taking off like that. I’m looking forward to the bike ride home, I’m gonna go the right way this time!
sorry dad :/
