Facebook has made a monster step on its way to crushing myspace. A lot of people think myspace is done….I disagree.

 While I do think facebook’s API is awesome, and the mytradeteam is busting their asses to get some killer apps loaded on faceboook, I also think myspace still has the edge. Am I crazy? No….

 Here’s Why:

Facebook is better for people over 25, (over 13 really)
Facebook’s networking aspects are better
Facebook’s API program will give it awesome widgets and viralness

wait….which side am I arguing?…

haha, don’t worry. Here’s why I think myspace is not out of the game:

They have far more users and a better brand IMO. However, they NEED to make changes.

For now, they should “follow the taillights” of facebook, add better networking, cutout the spam and make an API program. Do all this in 2 weeks and you kill facebook’s mojo. Myspace’s lead in users and brand should allow it to hold off facebook, play catchup on the website then, hopefully, hire some new leadership and get the site moving in the direction facebook saw first.

 Sound a little copycatish? It is. Yes….

This is the only way I see myspace competing. If they don’t make changes within a month, I think they’ll be relegated to serving ringtone ads and spam emails to 12 year olds, and facebook will dominate the crowd with money, 25+.

Just my 2 cents.
