For a 43 billion dollar company, Yahoo amazes me. They see their website as a tool–a tool that can either make money and annoy, or do what its customers want. What terrible vision!

I just got done playing a little chess on yahoo, where I had to click about 6 times to get where I wanted, everytime “seeing” a banner ad–even once where I clicked on Yahoo Chess and it took me to a page with a huge ad on it, and small text saying “continue to yahoo chess”. Then while playing I had to endure a banner ad that changed every 15 seconds, trying to grab my attention. Why??? I’m trying to play chess.

Yahoo makes you click 2-5 times as much as you should have to, to get where you want to go, then they annoy you with things you don’t want to see.

Am I just complaining? No. Not at all. In fact, I’m thankful. Its websites like yahoo that will make mytrade that much greater. One pledge I can guarantee is that at mytrade, we will try our hardest to deliver the information the user wants with the least possible clicks, and ZERO annoying ads.

Instead of a flashing banner trying to get me to punch a monkey to get a free ringtone (while I’m trying to play chess) why not have a small link to purchase a book on chess (since I’m playing chess). I mean, I’d rather have no advertisements, but I know yahoo needs to make their money, so why not use their heads?

I’m extremely excited about mytrade and our annoy-free policy. (hey that rhymes). If you want info on something, you’ll be able to find it quickly. If you don’t, we won’t put it in your face.

Its really an age-old principal….give the customer what they want, but so many companies seem to miss the mark…
